The History
GE.S.A.C. S.p.A. – Gestione Servizi Aeroporti Campani –- was established in 1980 as a majority state-owned company on the initiative of City of Naples, Province of Naples and Alitalia (whose stake was subsequently acquired by SEA Group of Milan). In August 1997, each one of the public shareholders sold 35% of their share packages to the English group BAA, the world’s leading airport management company.
With BAA’s acquisition of majority shares, Naples Airport becomes the first airport to be privatized in Italy.
In December 2010 F2i – Fondi Italiani per le Infrastrutture- SGR acquired the majority stakeholding of GESAC.
In February 2015, F2i signed an agreement to sell 49% of F2i Aeroporti S.p.A. to a consortium composed by Ardian (60%) and Credit Agricole Assurances (40%). Following the sale, F2i Aeroporti changed the company name into 2i Aeroporti SpA.
On 24th October 2019 the act of merger by incorporation of Salerno Airport S.p.A. in GE.S.A.C. S.p.a. was signed, giving birth to an integrated and complementary Campania airport system.
F2i
F2i SGR, an acronym for Italian Infrastructure Funds, is an asset management company founded in 2007 and led by the CEO Renato Ravanelli.
F2i SGR is Italy’s largest independent infrastructure fund manager, with assets under management of about 7 billion euros.
The companies belonging to the F2i network operate in six key sectors of the national economy: transport and logistics, energy for transition, distribution networks, telecommunications networks, health and social care facilities and circular economy.
The airport of Naples is F2i’s first investment in the airport sector.
